Yoga Class Descriptions
Yoga
Yoga at Moving Arts is based in the Integrative Yoga Therapy program that unites the principles of Hatha Yoga, one of the oldest forms of yoga, with a modern focus on mind-body wellness. Students focus on deep breathing, become aware of core muscles, and explore establishing their own yoga practice. Combining asanas or postures with focused breath helps to balance the entire person on three levels: physical, mental, and spiritual. This balance is the goal of yoga, which means to “yoke” or “join.” The small group classes are offered at both introductory and continuing levels. Mats and yoga equipment are provided. Individual and duet classes are also available.
Connections
Connections classes combine elements of Hatha Yoga and dance with strengthening exercises. As in yoga, students focus their minds on visualizing muscles in motion, developing increased muscular awareness. Classes are small with equipment provided, including mats, small balls, resistance bands, weights, and straps. Teens and adults of all ages who are medically clear for exercise can participate.
Yoga for Mommy & Me
Yoga for Mommy & Me is a Hatha Yoga based class specifically for mothers and babies, from infant to two years old. Asanas targeted at strengthening and firming abdominal muscles help new mothers reclaim their bodies. Other asanas lengthen and relax muscles throughout the body and restore energy. At all times mothers have their babies with them, frequently reacting with or partnering with their babies in postures. Equipment is provided for mothers. Mothers, however, should bring one or two blankets, soft, quiet toys, and any other necessities for their little ones.
